TextWeaver
After years of debate over the threat and promise of online education, most accrediting and faculty organizations have agreed that no learning activity is more important than interaction between students and teachers. But the software that supports human interaction on the Web is archaic and clumsy. It is time to bring the online discussion forum up to date. This is the purpose of the TextWeaver Project. Sponsored by The Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education of the US Department of Education, TextWeaver will bring new ease and convenience to participation in discussion on the Web.
TextWeaver is an open source product, distributed free for testing and evaluation. This site has been opened as a contact point for all those interested in participating in the creation of a new generation of online discussion software.
